WhatsApp goes on its knees and does not block functions when refusing new conditions

In recent months there has been a lot of talk about the new conditions. Now it seems that WhatsApp has gone on its knees after all.

WhatsApp does not block features

WhatsApp’s new terms and conditions have caused a lot of controversy in recent times. Now WhatsApp has canceled plans to block features from users if they do not accept the new terms. Previously, the measures against this were already relaxed, but now users who do not accept the new conditions are not limited in the possibilities, the company reports to colleagues at The Verge.

The original plan stated that WhatsApp would further restrict its features over time. This involved, for example, allowing users to only receive notifications and make calls. Reading and sending messages, for example, would not be possible. More functions would be blocked at a later stage.

In January the news came out about the new conditions. WhatsApp would be given more powers to share data with Facebook. Including regarding payment services via WhatsApp, Facebook Pay and also how certain conversations take place with companies on WhatsApp. Within the EU, this is not permitted due to legislation, which would actually change nothing within the European Union.

WhatsApp says it has had discussions with various authorities and privacy experts. The limitation of this has been postponed indefinitely. Users do not have to accept the new terms and conditions.
