WhatsApp is working on a new feature
Another new feature is coming to WhatsApp on your iPhone. With WhatsApp Channels it will soon be possible to create channels in the app. These channels should make it easier to share information faster. The channels are therefore intended to post messages, which are then shown to the followers of the channel.

The new feature is a bit like Twitter, because you will soon receive a feed with the messages from all the channels you follow. The channels are intended for normal WhatsApp users as well as for businesses. In the channels you follow you will then see the updates of the person or company that manages the channel. So the messages are a bit like tweets, but there is one big difference.
Replies not possible in WhatsApp Channels
In WhatsApp Channels it is not possible to reply to the messages you see. The channels are for sharing information and making announcements only. So if you want to reply to a message you see in a particular channel, you have to do so via the private chat of the company or the person who owns the channel.
That is not very easy, by the way, because the phone number and profile picture of the channel manager are hidden from the followers of a channel. In this way, WhatsApp tries to guarantee the privacy of the administrators. The administrators decide for themselves who can and cannot follow the channel and whether the channel is public. Other WhatsApp users will not see which channels you follow after the update.
WhatsApp Channels currently still limited available
WhatsApp Channels is currently still limited available, as the function is still in the testing phase. The new feature will be available in Colombia and Singapore first and is expected to expand to other countries after that. As soon as WhatsApp Channels are available in more countries, it will also be possible to post photos, videos, stickers and polls in a channel.

It will therefore take a while before WhatsApp Channels are available to everyone. Typically, WhatsApp releases new features for everyone within a few months.
