WhatsApp can now also be used on your Mac without an iPhone
WhatsApp has launched a new feature and you can now use it on other devices such as your Mac, even without an iPhone. Your phone no longer needs to be connected in WhatsApp Web, Desktop and Portal.
Read on after the ad.
How to use WhatsApp on Mac without iPhone
It was already possible that you could use WhatsApp on your Mac, but to do that, your iPhone always had to be nearby. The messages were then forwarded to your desktop via your phone.
That will come to an end, because WhatsApp can now also be used without your phone. There are a few limitations to using WhatsApp on other devices. Those are:
- You can use up to four devices without your phone having to be online.
- It is not possible to make calls or send messages from Web, Portal or Desktop to users who have an outdated version of WhatsApp on their phone.
- If you don’t use your phone for 14 days, the paired devices will be unpaired.
In addition, a few features are not yet supported in WhatsApp on other devices. For example, it is not possible to delete chats on all devices at the same time and iPads currently do not have access to the new functions. In addition, creating and viewing a mailing list is limited.
How do you get the update in WhatsApp?
The update is currently in beta, but is slowly rolling out. If you want to try the function yourself, you can do so in the following way.
Open WhatsApp and tap Settings > Paired Devices. You will then automatically receive a notification that you can try the new improvement. Tap ‘OK’ and you can get started. Now all you have to do is connect your Mac and you can use WhatsApp without an iPhone.
Connect Mac with WhatsApp
You can still connect to your Mac, MacBook Air or other device from the WhatsApp app on your iPhone. You do not need to install a new app for this. To connect another device with WhatsApp, go through the following steps.

Useful tips for WhatsApp
Anyone can send an app, but WhatsApp can do more than that. The chat app is packed with features that make apping just that little bit more enjoyable. Take silent notifications for example. Thanks to this feature, you won’t be distracted all the time by the sound of incoming messages. Also very nice to do is making your own stickers for WhatsApp.
