WhatsApp Beta for Windows receives dark mode via update

The beta version of WhatsApp for Windows comes with a major update that includes a number of much-requested features. The dark theme, among other things, is now available in the app.

WhatsApp has been testing a special version for Windows since the end of 2021. The app works on the so-called Universal Windows Platform that Microsoft announced together with Windows 10. Developers can use this platform to create apps that work on multiple devices with different screen sizes. That means that in the Microsoft Store you will come across these kinds of UWP apps that work on a Windows tablet, a Windows PC or even an Xbox One console, which run on Windows 10 or higher.

The advantage of UWP apps is that they take over the design and operation of Windows (apps) and thus blend perfectly into the interface. And you won’t find those features with the WhatsApp Desktop application for Windows or WhatsApp Web in the browser.

Update with dark mode

This WhatsApp Beta UWP app is now getting an update (version 2.2206.1.0 with many new features. First of all, there is the dark mode, which the app automatically takes over if you also set your Windows PC to the dark theme. Below you will find the options that the app now has:

1. General: Start WhatsApp when signing up
2. General: Customize app theme color
3. Account: Show security notifications on computer
4. chat: Archive, delete or delete all chats
5. Notifications: Customize message and group notification sounds
6. Notifications: Receive notifications when WhatsApp is not open
7. Storage: Manage photo, audio, video and document storage

WhatsApp’s UWB app comes with multi-device support. In other words, you stay connected, even if you break the connection between your PC and phone. Stickers are not present in the application yet, only emoji and gifs. Wallpapers and status updates are also still missing in this beta.
