Signal is available in a new version for Android and iOS. Messenger operators have made improvements to group calls and PayPal support for donations. The WhatsApp alternative is also becoming increasingly popular.

Signal: Android and iOS app update

From now on the encrypted Messenger Signal is in a new version for Android smartphones and iPhones ready. The desktop app has also been updated. Two new features are at the heart of the update, affecting group calling and PayPal donations.

at group calls via Signal, users can now decide for themselves whether other group members are informed by phone call or just by a simple notification about the call itself. There is one restriction, however, because the ringtone option is limited to groups with a maximum of 16 members. With even larger groups, it remains with a notification.

The second innovation is with the donation opportunities found in the app. Anyone who wants to support the operators of the free messenger can now do so via PayPal. A corresponding donation button can be found in the new version of the app. Previously, the ability to donate was limited to payments made by credit card or via Google Pay and Apple Pay.

A few weeks ago, Signal also improved voice messages in the Android version. Here, when recording, all other sounds on the smartphone automatically muted.
