WhatsApp: 3 new features soon on your smartphones
The WhatsApp messaging application is continuously updated. Recently, the teams simplified the connection to an account from several devices, but also transformed the interface by taking inspiration from iOS. As soon as they are deployed, these functionalities are already supplemented by new options being deployed on the Stores.
Messages a little less ephemeral
3 years ago, in 2020, WhatsApp added ephemeral messages to its conversations, automatically deleted after a user-defined time. Over the next few weeks, the app will slightly modify this option. It will thus be possible to keep a temporary message, by selecting it and clicking on the bookmark at the top of the interface.
However, there is one condition: your interlocutor must, after notification, agree to the message being kept.
It’s moving on the GIF side
GIFs, for Graphics Interchange Format, remain widely used in messaging and WhatsApp is no exception. However, messaging has never previously allowed automatic reading of this format in a conversation. Thing corrected with version 2.23.10.2 of the application: a GIF will be played once, when displayed. To play it again, you will have to click on the button in the center of the image, as is the case today. An addition that may seem anecdotal, but which still improves the WhatsApp experience.
The polls are growing
Available for a few months, WhatsApp polls have won over some users. However, the functionality remains very basic. To complete this option, the application teams have just added several options. From now on, it will be possible to choose between multiple or single answers to a questionnaire. The search function will make it easier to find a poll in the conversation. Finally, chat notifications will now take survey responses into account.
Many more WhatsApp updates are in the works. According to WABetaInfo, iOS and Android users will soon benefit from a chat transfer feature without going through cloud solutions. Additions to the level of confidentiality are also in preparation, in particular the possibility of locking by code or fingerprint access to a conversation.
