However, in a previous version, Xiaomi made it possible to uninstall several of them and has now expanded their list in the MIUI 12.5 extension.

New graphics, better fluidity and natural sounds in the system

Standard changes to each new version of the superstructure are performance improvements, new icons and animations. Graphical changes are minimal for MIUI 12.5, but should bring up to a 20% improvement in system performance and smoothness. This will mainly help the cheaper and weaker performance models of the Xiaomi and Redmi brands.

Xiaomi rewrote the core of the system in the superstructure and made it less demanding. This should also have a positive effect on lower battery consumption, by up to 15%. At the same time, some new animations have been added that are smoother.

To enhance the user experience, the manufacturer has incorporated new natural and animal sounds into the system. Animal sounds are divided by areas – Rainforest, Savannah, Australia and the Arctic. The novelty also has an educational function. For each area, there is information about the species of animals that are typical of it and you can also hear how they sound. Finally, there is the Natural Mix option, where you can mix your own tone from the given animal sounds.

Super backgrounds, which in MIUI 12 were intended only for flagships, are available for each model in the new superstructure. New are two new Super backgrounds – Snowy Mountains and Geometry. These are 3D backgrounds that have different animations depending on what you do. For example, with the planet Earth, the illuminated part of it changes according to the current time in the smartphone. Snowy mountains change the weather again.

Better security of privacy and user data

Better security and protection of user data has become one of the manufacturers’ priorities in recent years, as has Xiaomi. In the MIUI 12.5 extension, the option to not give the application access to the exact position, but only to the approximate position, has been added. While navigation, for example, needs an exact location to navigate, it is not so necessary in the case of the weather application.

MIUI 12.5 will also let you know which application is trying to get to the clipboard with copied text. The new sandbox storage mechanism, in turn, separates photos and other files so that the Gallery doesn’t get to things it shouldn’t have access to. The official web browser in MIUI 12.5 should more closely block the collection of user pages by websites.

MIUI + should provide a closer connection between your smartphone and your Windows 10 computer. You can use this feature to read notifications and write messages on your smartphone directly from your computer. You will also be able to view the Notes and Calendar applications on your computer, where you can then edit your agenda.
