The US ban has already hit Huawei hard in recent months. Now the US government has even expanded the blacklist. This has consequences for Huawei, which was still hoping that the situation would change, especially since Xiaomi was also relieved.

Huawei remains on the blacklist

While Huawei is currently trying to build a new foothold with HarmonyOS, the US government has consolidated its position against the Chinese group. The US ban on Huawei remains in place. There is currently no hope of relaxation or cooperation with Google so that Huawei smartphones can access the services again. So the future for Huawei lies in independence. That can be a great opportunity for the company if it prevails against Google and Apple. But there is also the risk that the Chinese market will be withdrawn and a major player in Europe will disappear.

The US government has not only reiterated its tough stance against Huawei, but it has blacklist even expanded to 59 companies. As of August 2nd, American investors will no longer be allowed to invest in these Chinese companies. The US government claims that the companies are controlled by the Chinese government and the military. Exactly the same was said of Xiaomi, but the allegation was recently refuted. This chance does not exist for Huawei. The company also develops technology for infrastructure in countries, while Xiaomi only offers products for end consumers.

In this Video do you see what the future of Huawei looks like:

Huawei can only continue on its own

The strategy that Huawei is currently pursuing with HarmonyOS is the only way to continue to exist in the market. Whether a real competitor to Google and Apple will emerge in the long run depends on whether the developers participate. An operating system will only be successful with the right apps.
