What brand do LG users switch to? Apple wants to attract them
After the departure of the South Korean technology giant LG from the smartphone market, many users remained in its home country, who will have to switch to smartphones from another manufacturer. Samsung has great potential here, which its competitor Apple is also aware of. According to The Korea Herald, Apple, in cooperation with three Korean mobile operators, has prepared an exchange program for LG customers.
Users of LG smartphones will receive a € 110 donation to the new iPhone
Owners of LG smartphones with 4G and 5G support, which are at least a month old, can participate. The operator then pays users 150,000 won, which is about 110 euros. You can use them to buy Apple iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 mini models.
The exchange program was launched on Friday and will last until September 25.
Apple is desperately trying to gain new customers in Samsung-dominated South Korea
Apple has launched such a program in the South Korean market for the first time. However, it has tried to gain new customers in this country before, when introducing models with the support of the 5G network. It also opened its second Apple Store in the country in February.
And why South Korea? According to the analytical company Counterpoint Research, its competitor, Samsung, has a market share of up to 65% in the smartphone market. The second is followed by Apple with a 21% share and the third is LG with 13%. It is so likely that LG smartphone users would replace them with Samsung phones, which Apple obviously does not want and is trying to attract these users.
