The new software comes a week after the release of the third beta. Updates have not yet been discovered in the test versions. In the software, Apple focuses on stability and security. It is therefore important to update your Apple Watch soon, although you will not discover any new functions.

watchOS 8.5 – currently the latest version – wasn’t a major interim update either. The most notable change was that the software supports the new ‘Emoji 14’, bringing dozens of new emojis to the Watch.

Only for developers

The watchOS 8.6 beta is available for developers to install. They download the configuration profiles from the Apple Developer Center. Once installed, watchOS 8.6 can be downloaded on the iPhone’s Watch app. You do this at ‘General>Software update’.

To perform a software update, the Apple Watch needs a battery percentage of at least 50 percent. It must also be placed on the charger and within range of the iPhone. It is not yet known when Apple will make watchOS 8.6 available to everyone.
