Warning! Fraudsters send dangerous e-mails on behalf of VUB Bank

The Slovak police drew attention to another fraud on the Hoaxy and fraud Facebook page, which is spreading on behalf of VUB banka. A fraudulent e-mail from a bank client informs him that his account has been blocked due to the detection of suspicious activity. Below is a link to log in to internet banking, where it is possible to unblock the account.

The fraudsters did not try very hard. They are immediately revealed by the form of the e-mail address, the attached link and the message header

The message header is already suspicious, as the phrase “We need to tell you something important” starts with cheap marketing e-mails rather than official announcements from the bank. The fact that this is a fraud is confirmed by the e-mail address itself, the shape of which is far from the addresses of VUB banka. Not to mention that the e-mail lacks any graphic design, albeit only in the form of the attached logo.

The URL itself, which is hidden behind the blue click, does not even try to be trustworthy. You won’t find a mention of the bank or internet banking in it, and instead it contains the words bridge, news, Africa, ghost and the suffix .com.

In general, the links provided in suspicious emails should be avoided. If you are not sure whether it is a real or fraudulent e-mail, go to the destination link (in this case to internet banking) using Google or by entering the URL directly into the browser.

Users who are not VUB banka’s clients also received a fraudulent e-mail

The police noted in the article that one of the employees received the message at his work e-mail address. This is despite the fact that the bank only uses its private addresses. However, fraudsters are allegedly not very picky and users who are not clients of VUB banka also receive e-mails on a regular basis.
