VR mode for Cyberpunk 2077 may arrive in January -apkrig
Virtual reality enthusiast and author of a number of successful VR modes Luke Ross is embarking on another project. Fans on his Patreon voted to play Cyberpunk 2077 in virtual reality mode, and Ross decided to hear their wishes. In an interview with PC Gamer magazine, he also states that the last game from the RED Project CD is the opposite in the VR and, given Ross’s experience, it can be finished in January next year. This would mean not only the opportunity to walk around Night City and soak up its unique atmosphere, but also, with reference to the previous work of the mentioned VR expert, to play fully from start to finish.
Ross started working on VR modes for games that do not natively support him as early as 2017. His first act was the VR conversion of No One Lives Forever 2, which was very popular among fans and, of course, was written about by leading foreign media. The even bigger project was complete virtualization GTA V, which, according to Ross, appealed to hundreds of thousands of fans and reportedly records the withdrawal of the VR modification every day. GTA V was followed by Red Dead Redemption 2 or Mafia, which went even faster for Ross and now dares to mention the aforementioned Cyberpunk 2077.
“If nothing goes wrong, I could be done in January,” Ross told the PC Gamera editors, who asked him to start work. Ross said that although he doesn’t see anything in REDengin 4 that would make his work much easier, he doesn’t see any problem at all, because other engines and games aren’t any more inclined to VR modes. On the contrary, Ross is pleased that the developers have done a great deal of work for him by choosing a first person camera, so converting an entire game to play in VR shouldn’t be difficult. Not to mention that Ross isn’t just satisfied with the camera and half the functionality – he’s gotten his job so far that he’s able to inject his own VR engine into the game’s data, and payments from Patreon fans also allow him to test modifications. Therefore, even in the case of Cyberpunk 2077, they claim that the game will run fully, from start to finish, and players should not run into any major issues.
“As my own tools evolve, I could publish one on average game monthly, ”Ross adds his ambitious estimate. However, it will always depend on the individual obstacles he may encounter in specific titles, so he does not give this information as a binding promise, but only as an insight into what he could handle in a good constellation of circumstances. In the case of Cyberpunk 2077, these could be updates from the developers, which may change a lot depending on the state of the game, but Ross still hopes to pass the VR mode to the players as soon as possible. At the same time, he is also completing another project, which he has not yet talked about on a specific level. PC Gameru said that it is a game based on API DX12 and players can look forward to beautiful views of the landscape and dense battles. With what or who he didn’t say, but fans guess it could be Sorcerer 3 or Horizon: Zero Dawn, who saw the release of the PC version and would be such a hot candidate.
