Are you in China lost in a supermarket and you want to buy tea (and not powdered bat)? To be sure of your shot, the app Google Lens allows you to translate in real time what is written on boxes, books, signs in the street … You just have to put your camera on it and wait 2 seconds. We already told you about this app in an article on object recognition. It’s almost magical. Well, this is “Google translation” so don’t expect miracles: don’t expect to translate a book or a complex manual. For the rest it’s all good!
The mobile version of Google Translate
But Google’s most impressive translation tool is … Google Translate (the guy who came up with the name is a genius). If the function that your photo module uses is practically the same as that offered by Google Lens, Conversation mode is very impressive. Choose the language of your interlocutor then yours and press the corresponding button before pronouncing a sentence. The app will instantly translate what you just said! Two people who do not understand each other can therefore converse. The voice of the app is not at all “robotic”: we recognize the accent very well and there are relatively few errors. Languages can be downloaded in advance if you need to use them offline. You know, we are not big fans of Google, but here we were blown away.
