Victoria 3 – -apkrig
It’s kind of like an internal joke. Whenever Paradox Interactive announces a new game or project, the comments of hundreds of people are in the spirit: “Okay, that’s nice, but what about Victoria 3?” superpowers of the 19th century. And what the people want, sooner or later they will get.
This time he didn’t even have to resort to defenestrations and guillotines, because Paradox finally announced Victoria 3 at the weekend event PDXCON Victoria 3, completely voluntarily. In fact, unlike the new data disc for Crusader Kings III, he decided to share images directly from the game, although with a large red warning that it was only a version in progress. So let’s see what is going on for us in the century of steam.
First, the exact dating: Victoria 3 takes place between 1836 and 1936, and the end of the campaign will be directly chronologically followed by the World War II strategy of Hearts of Iron IV. Fans of saved position converters, which allow you to continue in the same campaign across games, will certainly not be long in coming.
Victoria 3 will be largely a simulator of a troubled society. After all, the 19th century was a time of great social change;
Of course, internal politics is far from the only thing you will pay attention to. No less important will be the view outwards, beyond the state borders. So many parts of the world are still waiting for colonization and ruthless exploitation. The Napoleonic Wars also ended relatively recently, which leaves room for good old European revanchism. But war is expensive, so prepare a strong economy before sending your troops to meet the enemy. Or rely on the variant for savers: clever diplomacy.
Preview suggests that it is the system of diplomacy that could be extremely interesting, based on the rattle of sabers, on the threats of war rather than on real shots. Which makes sense, because the armed conflict between the two European powers is beginning to promise so much destruction that a Holstein is not entirely worth it. But the murder of the heir to the throne may already be, see, the Austrians?
Unfortunately, we have no idea yet when Victoria 3 could come out. I wouldn’t expect it this year, but maybe the developers will go out and prepare a Christmas present for all enthusiastic capitalists with high cylinders and gold monocles. But even if they fail, the masses can at least silence their wild howls for a month, knowing that their dream will come true in the near future.
