Vanguard records do not break -apkrig

Although all the attention of fans of multiplayer shooters turned to Battlefield 2042 last weekend, the lukewarm reception of Call of Duty: Vanguard cannot be left out. As we have already evaluated in our review, the game suffers from a number of problems, and even in this case it is impossible to talk about flawless an experience that would fully celebrate the long-running legacy of the series. According to available statistics, the opposite is true, and according to Games Industry magazine, Vanguard sold 40 percent worse in the UK than last year’s Black Ops Cold War. Although it is a single market probe, the numbers are alarming, regardless of possible regional practices and interests, exacerbated by a report by VGC editors stating that Vanguard is the worst work in terms of sales in 14 years.

Games Industry explains the decline as a result of several factors. The first is the fact that Vanguard is set in World War II, which Call of Duty, regardless of the roots of the series, does not attract as much as modern set-up. Another influence may be the transition to a new generation of consoles, which drags considerably and not everyone may want to play the previous generation. Competitive shooters can also be an integral part of the sales failure, but they have always been here and are rather a marginal factor. The most important thing may be a certain fatigue of the series, some design decisions, as well as the fact that Call of Duty is defacto free, if you are satisfied with the battle royale mode Warzone, which will add new content inspired by Vanguard in December.

However, this probably does not end with the decline in sales compared to the previous part. As we outlined in the introduction, Video Games Chronicle continued to work with publicly available numbers, as well as inside information from its sources, claiming that it was the weakest launch in fourteen years. Reportedly, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was expected to attract fewer players in its first weeks than Vanguard. If we were to take the best-selling part – Black Ops from 2010 – then, in the first week, according to the VGC, it sold twice as much, with the insignificant Infinite Warfare being less successful and less popular with players. But what the impact will be on the entire series and the range of games it offers cannot be so easily estimated. Call of Duty is a colossus that is also constantly moving forward and there is undoubtedly not only a speculated Modern Warfare II in preparation, which should follow up on the reboot of 2019 next year, but also other parts with a view to several years. To this must be added the success of the mobile version and the already mentioned Warzone, which recorded half a billion downloads in May this year, regardless of the declining number of active players.
