update to Android 11 delayed and not coming until next year
There is bad news for the owners of the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T and 7T Pro. The four devices will only get the update to Android 11 next year. A problem was found during testing, and it will have to be resolved first.
Android 11 later to OnePlus 7 and 7T
The OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T and 7T Pro will not be offered the update to Android 11 until later. The new Android version is tested by the manufacturer, but an error was found during testing, which must first be resolved. The error is related to the decryption of data. Details of what exactly went wrong are not given. However, it becomes clear that the manufacturer cannot solve it on its own. OnePlus has now enlisted the help of Qualcomm, who will have to solve the problem together with the manufacturer.
In the message shared by OnePlus itself, it becomes clear that the error was found in the Chinese software version. This version does not use OxygenOS but HydrogenOS. The code of this software has many similarities with that of the OxygenOS used here, so it is expected that the update will also be delayed here. If everything goes according to plan, the company hopes to release the closed beta this month, after which the open beta can be rolled out later.
It is not clear now when OnePlus will update the four smartphones from the 7-series with Android 11. It is certain that this year will not be achieved by OnePlus. Of course we will keep you informed on DroidApp if there is news to report about the spread of the update to Android 11. For the 8 and 8 Pro, the update has already been released recently.
