Top 10: The most popular smartphones at the moment
The top 10 of the most popular smartphones of the moment (Q1 2021) is unprecedentedly one-sided, because Apple dominates confidently.
Once again, Apple dominates the smartphone industry with a line of wildly popular smartphones. Without any problems, the iPhone maker holds the first four places of the top 10 most popular smartphones of the first quarter of this year. We already got an indication of those impressive but not surprising numbers in January. Apple has also managed to hold its own against the Chinese and South Koreans in the following months.
Top 10 smartphones Q1 2021
Counterpoint research shows that Apple is once again lord and master in the smartphone world. The iPhone 12 series dominates both in terms of volume and sales. The 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max occupy the top 3 in varying proportions. Despite its release date in the fall of 2019, the iPhone 11 still manages to keep fourth place.
Traditionally, Samsung is also doing very well. In terms of sales, the South Koreans manage to enter the top 10 most popular smartphones of Q1 2021 with the S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra. Remarkably enough, those devices are not in the top 10 in terms of volume; the Galaxy A series, along with the Redmi 9 series, dominates that list.
Ultimately, Huawei also manages to maintain one place in the top 10. Despite a virtually worldwide ban, Huawei’s flagship, the Mate 40 Pro, can still earn a lot of money with its release in China.
In total, Apple earned 38% of total smartphone sales in Q1 of 2021, while Samsung and Huawei managed to hit 6 and 2 percent respectively. In the volume list, the numbers are just as impressive. Apple sold 14% of all smartphones, Redmi about 4% and Samsung about 3%.
Of course, all other devices that are not in the top 10 also add to the percentages of those brands, but it gives a good indication of how dominant Apple’s smartphones were in Q1 of 2021.
