Tom Holland describes his role in Uncharted as a -apkrig mistake
The film adaptation of the Uncharted video game series is not easy. It took many years for Sony to find a suitable director, cast repeatedly, speculating on the subject, and when everything seemed to be well under way, a coronavirus pandemic and a postponement of the premiere to 2022 had come. the film was made and at the moment the editing is most likely underway, but what exactly will be the result is one big unknown. And we’re not talking about a story that shouldn’t be based on any part of the game saga, and ultimately not about casting Tom Holland as Nathan and Mark Wahlberg as Sully. It’s about the resulting quality, which surprisingly the first named actor undermines long before the film is released.
Twenty-four-year-old actor Tom Holland, who became famous as Peter Parker in Spider-Man, is not, of course, a single role man. For example, he has the film The Devil and recently completed the drama Cherry about a military paramedic who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and heroin addiction. He talked about this film in an interview for GQ magazine and described the role as his darkest yet. However, the aforementioned film Uncharted and Holland, apparently very openly attuned, did not hide his embarrassment and disappointment at Nathan Drake’s portrayal. Everything seems to be based on the fact that he had to play a character who should look like in all circumstances cool, which subsequently entered into the way he played the individual scenes.
It was a mistake and it’s something I’ll probably never want to do again, says Tom Holland.
“The moment you start worrying about whether you look good in a shot, acting becomes something a little more than just playing a character,” Holland explains, adding disturbing information that the film may condemn. “I think I felt under the weight of necessity in part of my performance at Uncharted look good […] and there were times when it was not about quality acting, but about the right position and showing my biceps, “says the actor. And even though it slightly downplays his statement that he has not seen the film yet and therefore has no idea whether it has succeeded or not, he does not have a good experience. “It was a mistake and it’s something I’ll probably never want to say again,” says the young actor, dispelling hopes that Uncharted could join a handful of video game adaptations that can be described as successful.
In the end, we only add that Ruben Fleischer took over the direction after many rotations, and if the situation in the world developed better, we could see the premiere later this month. However, at the end of January, the Hollywood Reporter brought information about the introduction of the delay, which was subsequently confirmed by Sony. As for the film, in addition to Wahlberg and Holland, Antonio Banderas also plays in the film, although it is not clear at this time in what role. The filmmakers are secretly hiding all the details and we will not start to find out before the marketing campaign starts. However, the question remains how much the described performance of Tom Holland will enter it and whether the film will be worth it in the end…
