Tiny Combat Arena wants to address pilots from the early nineties -apkrig

True, I’ve honestly complained a few times about the risky speed at which the reborn MicroProse is spewing one announcement after another. This publisher is clearly looking for potentially interesting pieces on the Internet that fit his specialization, and is betting on quantity rather than one or two first-class products. Tiny Combat Arena may be another similar example, but on the other hand, I was fascinated at first sight and it occurs to me that its author at least chose a specific target. Maybe too specific, because it will probably appeal only to a very small group of players. But that may be enough in his case.

Even in archaic graphics, you clearly identify the typical silhouette of various aircraft. In addition, the game well imitates the period appearance of the games and their various limits.

MicroProse goes out into the air again and attracts us to the title of Tiny Combat Arena. It is a very distinctly stylized flight game intentionally reminiscent of classics from the beginning to the first half of the 1990s. It wants to offer a mix of simulation and accessible flying, and we will enjoy a fictional conflict from the Cold War. The title will offer various modes, including dogfights in Arena mode, quick action and the opportunity to create your own script, including partial tasks.

The game is supposed to have depth, but fun comes first according to MicroProse. It should be very easy to learn the complete basics, however, the action should not be superficial. You can also choose weapons for the next mission. Tiny Combat Arena also attracts a rich database with encyclopedic data on all machines. Even in archaic graphics, you clearly identify the typical silhouette of various aircraft. In addition, the game well imitates the period appearance of the games and their various limits.

Tiny Combat Arena is heading for the PC and will soon land in the Steam Pre-Access Program. This should happen in September. The first controllable aircraft should be a British Harrier. However, the non-traditional project did not strike like lightning from clear skies. It has been around for a relatively long time. It is admirable that Tiny Combat Arena is the work of the only developer who has always wanted to play a similar game, but when he did not find one, he decided to create it himself.

It calls itself Why485 and on its YouTube channel you will find a lot and a lot of other videos from the game. He is a former modder who created for Battlefield or Freelancer to eventually embark on his own games. In his profile on itch.io you will find a number of other titles and prototypes, some of which can be described as direct predecessors of the news. You will even find a free older build of Tiny Combat Arena here, but the author himself points out that it is already very different from the current version. You can also follow the developers on Twitter.

You can find more games from the restored MicroProse in our archive. The publisher is already planning 12 games that we know about.
