TikTok claims to be improving in detecting borderline videos
Some content may be borderline on TikTok, which is why the social network claims to have made efforts to detect these types of videos so that younger users do not come across them.
TikTok announcement the launch of a new version of its borderline suggestive model, which the platform uses to automatically identify sexually explicit, suggestive or borderline content. The new model is better at detecting borderline content, meaning videos that don’t explicitly violate the rules of the app, but may not be suitable for younger users.
TikTok isn’t the only service to filter out this type of content in recommendations. Instagram has long worked to eliminate borderline content from its recommendations. However, automated systems have long had a harder time detecting content that is more mature in nature but does not contain explicit nudity. TikTok didn’t say how much more accurate the new system was, but said that in the past 30 days the company has blocked teenage accounts from viewing more than a million overtly sexually suggestive videos. .
At the same time, TikTok offers creators the option to restrict their videos to adult users. This function was previously only available for live videos, now it will also be available for regular videos.
