three super handy features that will definitely come in handy

AirPods are incredibly easy to use, but do you know all the features of Apple’s popular earbuds? We give you three super handy tips for your AirPods, which will certainly come in handy!

Tips for AirPods (that will surely come in handy)

When you have a set of AirPods, you really don’t want to be without them. They sound great, sit nicely and it’s very handy that they are automatically connected to all your other Apple devices.

However, the AirPods also have some lesser-known features that will definitely come in handy. We have put together three useful AirPods functions for you in this article and we also give you a bonus tip!

1. Customize your AirPods notifications

You may have noticed that some notifications are read aloud when you have the AirPods in your ears. Think, for example, of messages on WhatsApp or a private message on Twitter. Don’t like that? Then turn off the option at ‘Settings > Notifications > Announce notifications’. Here you turn off the slider at ‘Announce notifications’.

Do you really like the option? Then you can also turn on notifications for other apps on this settings page. Scroll down and under ‘Announce notifications from’ you will find all the apps you can use for this.

2. Useful tips when you lose one of your AirPods

If you let the ears of your AirPods swing around, you will of course soon lose them. Fortunately, Apple has the solution for that. Even if you have lost only one of your AirPods, you can locate the individual earpiece with the ‘Find My’ app on your iPhone.

Find (and find) lost AirPods with Find My

  1. Launch the ‘Find My’ app on your iPhone;
  2. Tap “Devices” at the bottom;
  3. Wait a moment for the app to find all your Apple devices;
  4. Tap the name of your AirPods and tap Play Sound (and tap Play Sound again when you see the warning);
  5. A sound will automatically play, you can choose which of your earphones should play the sound.

Is it very noisy and you can’t find the AirPods yet? Then tap ‘Search nearby’ during step 4. Your iPhone will then let you know on the screen when you are near your AirPods.

3. Always view AirPods battery charge with the widget

When you put the AirPods in the charging case, they are automatically charged. However, you do not know how full the battery is. You can of course ask Siri how your AirPods battery is doing, but in these tips we have an easier solution. Simply use the Batteries widget. Then you have all your batteries together in one overview.

  • Tap an empty spot on your home screen until the icons start to wiggle;
  • At the top left, tap the plus sign;
  • In the search box, type ‘Batteries’ and tap the found Batteries widget;
  • Choose the size of the widget and tap ‘Add widget’.

Tips for AirPods: bonus tip – use your charging case as a standard

It is not possible with every set of AirPods and you should not have the largest iPhone, but with an iPhone 13 mini with a set of AirPods Pro, for example, it works. You can use the charging case of your AirPods as a standard. Open the box and place it on a stable surface. Then place your iPhone on the box.
