1. Pocket: save everything to read it later (in peace)
The Pocket app is incredibly useful. This allows you to quickly save news items, articles, recipes, web pages, twitter messages and much more in a well-arranged list. Handy if you don’t have time to read the message right now, but you don’t want to lose it either. And the great thing is, if you put Pocket on your tablet or computer, you can also view all saved messages there.
Read It Later, Inc
You must first download the app from the App Store and create a free account. After that, Pocket is actually ready for use right away. But it’s a good idea to add Pocket to the shortcuts on your iPhone’s Share window. Then you don’t have to scroll all the way through the list of apps every time you want to save something. You do this in the following way.
As an example, open a website and tap the ‘Share’ icon, which is the square with the arrow. In the row of apps, scroll to the right and tap the three dots icon (“More”). Tap Edit, scroll down, then tap the plus sign for Pocket. The app will now appear in your ‘Favorites’, these are the apps that you will immediately see when you tap share.
Then save a website. Open the page or post and tap the Share icon. Then tap Pocket to save the page. Note that with some apps you have to do a few extra actions. For example, to save a message from Twitter to Pocket, tap the share icon below a Tweet. Then tap ‘Share via…’ and then choose Pocket.
2. Move apps to another screen more easily
If you have a lot of apps on your home screen, it quickly becomes a mess. Fortunately, you have the option to store apps on different pages. But if you want to move an app to another screen, it is sometimes difficult. You then have to hold the app against the edge of the screen and hope that you are far enough so that the next screen opens.
There’s an easier way to move apps to another screen, though, and we’ll show you that in this second trick of our iPhone tips.
Easily move apps on iPhone
- Hold down your finger on an empty spot on the screen until the icons start to wiggle;
- Tap and hold the app you want to move to another screen;
- Use another finger to swipe to the desired screen;
- Release the app on the other screen.
You may be familiar with the feature to share your Wi-Fi data with other iPhone users. When a close friend or family member with an iPhone wants to connect to your Wi-Fi, you’ll get a notification and you can approve it. This happens automatically without you having to provide the password.
However, if you have friends with an Android device, it is a bit more difficult. After all, the feature only works between iPhone users. You still have to give the password or type it in yourself.
Fortunately, with a Assignment there is an easy way to give them access to your WiFi, without having to look up and share the password. With this trick you can turn it into a QR code, which they can easily scan themselves.
- Visit the ShortcutsGallery.com website and look for the ‘Share Wi-Fi’ command;
- Open the command and tap ‘Get Shortcut’;
- Then tap ‘Add assignment’ to save the assignment on your iPhone.
The shortcut is now in the Shortcuts app. To make a QR code of your Wi-Fi, tap ‘Assignments’. Then tap ‘My assignments’ at the bottom and tap ‘Share Wi-Fi’. The QR code will then appear on the screen.
