Threads will finally make it possible to send private messages to other users

Threads should soon welcome a new feature very requested by users: private messaging. However, the CEO of Instagram had already announced that the application should not offer such a service.

Our colleagues from Business Insider got their hands on a long confidential document from Instagram, which details features in the works for the Threads app. If we already know that Meta will soon add a newsfeed dedicated to the people you follow, other highly anticipated features are in the pipeline.

Threads wants to add a messaging service

When Threads came out, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said the goal “ wasn’t to create a new inbox, but rather to allow users to send threads to other apps “. No private messaging was therefore plannedsince users could simply be redirected to Instagram, which offers a tab dedicated to private messages.

However, the internal document finally announces that Threads has changed its mind, and that a messaging service is well in the works. It seems that the app’s popular creators gave the company enough information to prioritize private messages over other planned features.

It therefore remains to be seen when this novelty will be deployed on the application. Unfortunately, French users may not have the opportunity to take advantage of it right away, Meta having blocked access to its application with us. If you can’t log in anymore, it’s because Threads shouldn’t originally be available in Europe.
