This speaker helps children fall asleep
With loudspeakers (Eneby, Symfonisk), Ikea is increasingly penetrating areas away from furniture and lighting. The new Bluetooth speaker from the Vappeby series should appeal primarily to children.
Man, is it cute: The 19 cm high one Bluetooth speaker Vappeby looks like a duck (or a goose?) – at first glance it is not obvious that there is a lot of technology in it.
Ikea Vappeby: wireless children’s speaker with variable lighting
The yellow beak is a central control for the box: pressing starts and stops the music playback, Turning controls the volume (see operating instructions, PDF). If you press and hold the volume control for 5 seconds, the Bluetooth pairing mode is activated to connect to a cell phone, for example. If no music is played for 20 minutes, the speaker will turn itself off. The bow tie also has functions: the left button switches on the LED lighting, the right button changes the mode. to choose from 3 light modes: dimmed light (as a night light), stronger light (as an accent light) and a disco light (glows in time with the music being played).
The Ikea Vappeby is dust and water protected According to the IP54 standard, it can withstand splashing water without any problems. A carrying strap is attached at the top for transport. The integrated battery (3,300 mAh) is supplied with the charging dock loaded, which also serves as a stand. However, other charging connections such as the common USB-C are Not available – Ikea does not provide an explanation for this. The playing time is at 50 percent volume up to 13 hours.
The Vappeby speaker for children is now available from Ikea in the Color variants green and pink available. The price is 49.99 euros. All in all an interesting gift for children (music and radio plays), especially since Ikea does without more in-depth settings (e.g. equalizer) and a suitable smartphone app. Simplicity and attractive design are the focus here.
