You have the gigantic blockbusters that dominate the charts on Netflix and then you have this silent hit: Maid.

Squid Game has been a massive powerhouse on Netflix since its September release, everyone and its mom knows that. But did you know that there is secretly an almost as big blockbuster on Netflix that no one is talking about?

Netflix’ Maid has been dominating for months

This is the recent Netflix miniseries called Maid. Since its release at the beginning of October, the series has been in the top 5 most-watched series in the Netherlands literally every week, as FlixPatrol knows. It’s hard at all for a show to get into that coveted top list, let alone 2 months in a row. And that with huge competition from all kinds of other favorites such as Squid Game, Casa de Papel, Undercover and Narcos!

Netflix’s Maid is about a young woman who flees an abusive relationship with her daughter. She then goes to work as maid to support herself and her daughter. The drama tackles some tricky topics, including domestic violence, mental health and poverty.

The show is stolen by lead actress Margaret Qualley, who you may know from her supporting roles in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, The Nice Guys or the video game Death Stranding. Adding to the whole thing is the fact that Maid is based on a true story, written by Stephanie Land under the name Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother’s Will to Survive (2019). Maid is now available on Netflix.
