This series puts Stranger Things to shame
About a week ago, the Netflix program was expanded to include the new horror comedy series Wednesday. This is a story about the daughter of the well-known Addams Family. This apparently interests so many that the series even dethrones Stranger Things.
Netflix: Wednesday sets new record
The Addams Family first appeared on television in September 1964 and is a creation of American cartoonist Charles Addams. This is one satirical and gloomy version of the ideal of a typical American family. It was so well received in the past that there were countless adaptations – and even today some are still being added.
The Wednesday series has been with us since November 23, 2022 Netflix to disposal. Played by Jenna Ortega, Wednesday finds her own path on the show and becomes independent from her family. But she is not forgotten in the series. Here, Catherine Zeta-Jones slips into the role of Morticia and Luis Guzmán as Gomez. Popular figures such as the ice cold hand should not be missing either. Bonus: Hollywood legend Tim Burton produced the series and even directed four episodes himself.
Netflix recently released its first viewing numbers. They can’t be independently verified yet, but if they’re to be believed, Wednesday will come around the week of November 21-27 341.2 million streaming hours. This makes the series the new record holder among English-language TV series on the streaming service, overtaking Stranger Things season four. This reached 335.01 million hours viewed in the first week (source: Netflix).
The series is not only well received in terms of quantity, but also in terms of quality: In the iMDB “Wednesday” currently has a dream rating of 8.5 out of 10. Some reviewers are also overturning with enthusiasm. So writes about Lars Weisbrod at Zeit Online:

Whether Wednesday one another season received is not yet entirely certain. It wouldn’t be a surprise given the numbers, though.

Wednesday: What exactly is it about?
As already mentioned, the series focuses on the Addams daughter Wednesday. As a student at the quaint Nevermore Academy, she must attempt to master her developing psychic abilities. A mysterious series of murders, a supernatural secret and tangled relationships at the school complete the picture.
