Samsung’s folding cell phones have so far suffered from one flaw in particular: the visible kink in the display. With the new Galaxy Z Fold 4, the industry leader can noticeably reduce the kink. New comparison images now show how clear the decline really is compared to the predecessor.

The presentation of Samsung’s new folding cell phones is expected in a few weeks. According to insiders, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are set to be unveiled on August 10 at an unpacked event. Samsung should focus on the display crease during the presentation, because the electronics manufacturer seems to have made great progress here.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 with a less prominent display bend

This is suggested by a tweet (below) by well-known mobile phone insiders Ice Universe. Two display folds can be seen there: once to the left of the current Galaxy Z Fold 3, once right of the new Galaxy Z Fold 4. In comparison, it can be clearly seen that the crease in the image on the right turns out to be far less prominent. The engineers at Samsung have obviously managed to significantly reduce the display crease. The same was previously reported by the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

With that would Samsung take a giant leap forward. The South Koreans are folding cell phone pioneers and market leaders in the promising device category. However, competitors such as Oppo and Motorola have found ways to reduce or even completely eliminate the display bend in their foldable smartphones.

New aspect ratio and improved telephoto lens for the folding phone

However, a possibly less pronounced display crease is not the only improvement the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is said to have. The folding cell phone should also have a new aspect ratio including a thinner hinge. And there is also speculation about major upgrades for the camera, including the telephoto lens of the Galaxy S22 Plus.
