Upcoming smartphones, which will appear from the end of 2022, will be equipped with a new processor. The show is set to take place earlier this year than previously expected. This will also be interesting for potential customers of the Samsung Galaxy S23.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be presented earlier

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 hasn’t been on the market that long, but Qualcomm has already announced the next big event. The “Snapdragon Tech Summit 2022” begins on November 14, 2022. That’s about two weeks earlier than last year. The focus should be on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will be installed in all new high-end smartphones in the first half of 2023. This is also the case in the Galaxy S23, because Samsung finally wants to do without its own Exynos chip in Germany and only use the SoC from Qualcomm.

The Galaxy S22 has already shown that the Samsung Exynos cannot keep up with the Qualcomm chip. With the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the differences became even clearer. The Qualcomm processor doesn’t get that hot and therefore doesn’t have to be throttled that early. Since Samsung cannot catch up and will not develop its own SoC for smartphones until 2025 with the Galaxy processor, this will initially be a good interim solution. At least that’s what the rumor mill says.

An Exynos processor is still working in the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra:

Is there more from Qualcomm?

In addition to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, there could also be something for the middle class. Of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 for example. With a smaller production, the heat development could decrease compared to the predecessor and the chip could become interesting for many smartphone manufacturers. The Gen 1 was avoided and instead used an older processor.

Otherwise we have to be surprised what Qualcomm presents. The expectations are high, because Samsung is technologically behind and Qualcomm is currently really stepping on the gas. For us, this means that all new smartphones from 2023 will be significantly better and will no longer heat up as much.
