In all action movies it seems like throwing a knife is easy. The reality is different. It is quite difficult to throw a knife well and placed. Once you’ve learned how to hit a target with an arrow, it’s relatively easy to hit it again from different angles and distances with some minor adjustments to the target. That is not the case with throwing knives. Extra spin is needed to give the blade enough kinetic energy to embed itself into a target. This with a specific number of rotations required to ensure that the sharp point hits the target first, not the flat side or blunt handle. The YouTubers created a portable launcher that has high-quality servo motors, solenoids, custom 3D-printed components, and some heavy-duty batteries to hurl throwing knives with the right amount of spin. So they hit the target and stick every time. To allow the launcher to operate from different distances, the launcher even uses a LiDAR sensor, which is used to measure how far away the target is and to properly adjust the green aiming laser.
