This is why FRITZ! fit into your living room (adv)

Wifi is almost a basic necessity of life and the providers do their best to give us a fast connection. You’re not done with that yet, because you have to keep this fast connection fast with the right equipment at home. FRITZ! can help you with that.

With FRITZ! popping on the internet

FRITZ! is the producer of, among other things, modem routers and repeaters that ensure that you always have a fast connection at home. The latest techniques are developed and embraced in order to use them with the products of FRITZ! to your (living) room or office.

Wi-Fi 6

One of these new techniques is the new standard for WiFi. Since 2020 they have given this (fortunately) a much simpler name with which we know more quickly which version we are talking about. The most recent update is Wifi 6 and this new standard brings a lot of good things to our living rooms and offices.

We have more and more devices in our homes that are connected to the internet. Just look around you, your television, smart lamps and maybe you also have a cool video doorbell. Unnoticed there are more and more and we see much more traffic on our home network. These devices usually work on the 2.4 GHz band, where Wifi 6 provides enormous improvements in speed and capacity.

FRITZ! has a wide range of routers that use WiFi 6, such as the FRITZ!box 6660 and the FRITZ!box 7590.

What is mesh Wi-Fi steering and why do you want it?

You often use multiple devices in your (living) room or office that connect you to the internet. For example, you have the router in the meter cupboard and a repeater on each floor that amplifies the signal so that you have a fast connection everywhere.

Suppose you enter your house, your smartphone will connect to the router in the meter cupboard. If you then continue to the attic, the distance becomes longer and the connection worse. When you use the technique called mesh, the connection to the meter box is taken over by the repeater in the attic. This gives a shorter distance and therefore a faster connection.

The technique of Mesh Wi-Fi steering goes a step further. Wi-Fi uses two bands, the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band and most devices can use one of these bands. That depends on the situation in which the device is located. For example, the 2.4 GHz band can be very busy in the living room because of all the smart lamps and the 5 GHz band is fairly quiet. Mesh Wi-Fi steering not only looks at the closest router/repeater, but also at the best connection for your device. The FRITZ!Box acts as a “mesh master” or rather “the heart of your home network”, the repeaters from FRITZ! also work with routers from other manufacturers

Free modem choice, why is it so important?

From the beginning of this year, you as a consumer can decide for yourself which type and brand of router you want to use. Before this, the provider of your connection could still oblige you with which device you were going to connect to their network. With this free modem choice, you can now much better choose the best device for your household, because no household is the same.
