This is what the Apple VR headset 2022 may look like

In 2022, Apple is likely to announce a completely new product: a VR headset. Many specifications were already leaked, but what will the Apple headset look like? The renders you see on this page are probably close to the final design.

Read on after the ad.

Concept Apple VR headset

The renders are made by designer Ian Zeibo and it’s no slouch. The concept is based on rumors of The Information about the design of Apple’s VR headset.

The Information would have seen internal photos of an advanced prototype of the Apple headset. The website said it was a slim device with a curved screen. The headband is interchangeable and the front has soft mesh that rests against the wearer’s face.

The website The Information also made a sketch of the headset, which has been an inspiration for these renders. It can be seen that the device looks a lot more elegant than existing headsets, such as the Ocolus Quest. The front is completely black and the headset has a blue adjustable headband. There is also a button at the top left of the screen; possibly the on/off switch.

Apple View

Zeibo calls the device the ‘Apple View’, but the name is still unknown. What we do know is that it will be an expensive and high-end device, targeting a niche market. The headset would include two 8K screens, an M1 processor, eye tracking technology and fifteen (!) cameras to visualize reality.

The price is not yet known, but according to The Information Apple internally talks about a price around 3000 dollars. Incidentally, Apple is also working on AR glasses, which are aimed at the average consumer. It will take a while before the Apple glasses appear: Apple is aiming for a release in 2025. The VR headset will come a lot earlier, probably at the end of 2022.
