This is what happens with the free charging of e-cars

Energy prices have risen sharply and so have charging prices for e-cars skyrocketed. Basically there is no free charging anymore. Ikea has now commented on what will happen to the free shop at the furniture stores.

Ikea: Charging e-cars will remain free for the time being

In the past, you could charge your e-car for free in many places. Ikea, Aldi and Lidl were among the most popular options. Do some quick shopping or a stroll through the furniture store and charge your e-car for free at the same time. What was always a great service now costs money almost everywhere. Aldi and Lidl no longer charge for free. Ikea has remained one of the few options where you can still charge your electric car for free while strolling around. But it doesn’t have to stay that way forever. The colleagues from mobiFlip to have asked at Ikea Germany and received the following answer:

“Up to now, IKEA customers have been able to charge their electric vehicles here free of charge during opening hours. Due to the current situation on the energy market, we are currently evaluating this service and do not rule out redesigning the offer in the future.”

In the In Switzerland, Ikea customers have to pay for charging. Accordingly, it is not surprising that Ikea in Germany could also charge something for charging in the future. It’s not that far yet, but if energy costs continue to develop like this, then that wouldn’t be unthinkable.

You can even earn something with Ikea furniture:

Bums at free charging stations

After Aldi and Lidl made the charging stations chargeable, I noticed, at least in our country, that significantly fewer people charge their e-cars there. Sometimes people even park next to the charging stations without charging. At Ikea, on the other hand, there are still many scroungers who use free electricity in their electric cars without being customers. So it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
