Turn off Siri on all your Apple devices
Turning Siri off isn’t difficult, as long as you know where to find the power button. All devices that have Siri support can also disable the assistant. This can come in handy, for example, if you don’t like the idea of your iPhone listening in all the time, or if ‘Hey Siri’ is activated unintentionally too often.
To keep it clear, we have explained step by step for each Apple device how to disable Siri: the iPhone, Mac(Book), Apple Watch and Apple TV.
Disable Siri on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
The most commonly used version of Siri is present on the iPhone. Follow the steps below to manually deactivate the assistant. These steps work on all devices running iOS: the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
- Open ‘Settings’ on your device;
- Tap “Siri & Search”;
- Turn off Listen for Hey Siri.
Turn off Siri on Apple Watch
As soon as you turn off Siri on your paired iPhone, the assistant will no longer work on the Apple Watch. Just want to turn off “Hey Siri” on your watch? Then these three steps are enough.
- Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch;
- Choose ‘General’;
- Turn off the switch next to Listen for ‘Hey Siri’.
Disable Siri on iMac and MacBook
Siri has also been present on the iMac and MacBook since 2016. By following the steps below you can not only remove the assistant from the menu bar, but also completely disable it. In the menu below you can also change Siri’s voice or set a key combination.
- Click on the Apple logo in the top left corner;
- Go to ‘System Settings’;
- Click on ‘Siri and Spotlight’;
- Turn off the switch next to Listen for Hey Siri.
Turn off Siri on Apple TV
Just like the iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac, you can also operate the fourth generation Apple TV with Siri. As with the above products, it is relatively easy to switch off again.
- Go to the Settings app on your Apple TV;
- Scroll to ‘General’;
- Turn off the button next to “Listen for Hey Siri.”
