this is how you can get started with the first beta version

Google has announced the first beta version of Android. In this article, we briefly explain how you can install the beta and thus get started with the new features on your Pixel smartphone.

Android 14 Beta 1

Google has started rolling out the first beta version of Android 14. After two previous Developer Previews – which were made specifically for developers – it’s now time for Android enthusiasts to try out the latest features in Android 14.

Android 14 builds on several core Android 13 themes including privacy, security, performance, and productivity. So it’s more like an upgraded version of this rather than a completely new designed system. You can read more about the new functions in this article.

Which phones can participate?

Using the Android 14 Beta is very easy. It is important to know that only owners of a Google Pixel 4a 5G or new are eligible to install the first beta version of Android 14. For this they must then register for the Android Beta Program. Below we list all phones that can receive the beta version for you, below you will find a step-by-step plan on how to install the version.

Step-by-step plan: how to install Android 14 Beta 1?

  1. Sign up for the Android Beta Program, which you can find via this link
  2. Sign in here with your Google account. A list of smartphones – on which you are logged in with the completed account – that are eligible for the update will now appear. This can only be the devices listed above
  3. Wait for your application to be approved
  4. Grab your Pixel smartphone and go to Institutions. Then go here System and System update to check for the new update

Android 14 official

Android 14 Beta 1 is – as the name suggests – the first beta version of Android 14. Beta releases are yet to follow until June. Two more Platform Stability versions will appear after this and after July the official version of Android for the general public will be announced. The Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will probably be the first devices to run on this. Later the update will also follow for other eligible devices.
