The 49-euro ticket for journeys on local public transport in Germany will start in less than a month. It can already be pre-ordered now. The app for the Germany ticket has been available for several weeks. Since April 3, you can also pre-order the Germany ticket from Deutsche Bahn and other transport companies.

With Deutsche Bahn you can find the Germany ticket directly in the online shop. Alternatively, you can buy the ticket in the DB Navigator app or in the DB travel centers. The local transport companies are also selling the ticket from today.

In the online shop The ticket can also be purchased from the railway company Transdev. If you get the ticket early, you can use it as soon as it is officially valid. In this way you can avoid possible waiting times and server problems when everyone else is rushing to get the Germany ticket and you are ready for the trip from the first day of validity.

For the 49 euro ticket a subscription must be taken out. So you don’t buy it month after month, but book it once and access it until you cancel. The subscription can be canceled at any time at the end of a month. If the employer offers a job ticket, the ticket costs only 34.50 euros, depending on the employer’s offer. A smartphone is not absolutely necessary for the purchase and use. The subscription can also be taken out at the points of sale of the transport companies.

If you already have a regional travelcard with your city’s public transport company, you have to decide between the Germany-wide ticket or the regional ticket, as opposed to the 9-euro ticket, or book both tickets at the same time if, for example, you continue to take someone with you or pass the ticket on to others want. You either have to cancel or switch existing subscriptions. There is no uniform procedure for the many transport companies in Germany, sometimes the existing subscription is automatically converted to the Germany ticket.

The Germany ticket app is not developed by Deutsche Bahn, but by HanseCom Public Transport. The company has already developed numerous apps for various transport companies. A notice: From the beginning of April, the Deutschland-Ticket will also be available in the DB Navigator and in the apps of the individual transport associations. In Berlin, for example, you can find it in the BVG app directly on the start page. It is not yet known whether there will be a printed paper version at the ticket counter or machine.

How to get the Germany ticket in the Germany ticket app

Here’s how you can get the 49-euro ticket now:

  1. After downloading the app you register with your email address. Do you already have one? “HandyTicket” accountyou can use it to log in.
  2. Then select a “contractual partner for the ticket“. This will be the official contract partner for your 49-euro ticket subscription. Ideally, you take the transport association that is active in your city.
  3. Read the terms and conditions and check the box if you agree.
  4. When registering again an email to confirm your details sent. Open the email and follow the link to register your address.
  5. Then it continues in the app. Enter your personal data here. Of course you should truthful information only make, after all, the ticket goes to the person with this information.
  6. Then you choose when your Germany ticket should be valid: 1.5., 1.6. or 1.7. The federal and state governments are aiming for a start on April 1st. As soon as this date is official, you will probably be able to buy the ticket in the app for this date as well.
  7. Enter your account details. The fee for the 49-euro ticket can only be paid via the app by SEPA direct debit, not via Paypal, credit card or other methods.
  8. Subscription is completed. The Germany ticket does not have to be bought month after month. Note, however, that you should quitif you don’t want to drive it for a month.
