Just in time for its 20th birthday, Mafia is available for free on Steam. The usual 9.99 euros for the gangster classic no longer have to be put on the table. However, the offer is not valid for long, so gamers should hurry.

Get Mafia for free on Steam

From September 1st there will be first part of the Mafia series for free on Steam. The offer is only valid until September 5th, after which 9.99 euros have to be paid again for the game by the Czech developer Illusion Softworks, which was released in 2002. It’s the original game and not the remake Mafia: Definitive Edition released two years ago.

According to the publisher’s announcement, 2K will become Mafia on the occasion of the 20th birthday offered free of charge (source: 2K on Twitter). The game debuted on PC on August 28, 2002 in North America, followed a week later by the European market. Two more years passed before it was released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

Due to the age of the game Mafia is also interesting for gamers who don’t exactly have the latest hardware. Many notebooks should already have enough resources to play mafia. The system requirements include 2 GB of RAM and a processor clocked at at least 1.4 GHz. Mafia is still released from the age of 16.
