This futuristic pinwheel is suitable for every house roof

The Dutch company The Archimedes has developed a mini wind turbine that can be installed on the roof of any house. It makes almost no noise and produces electricity even in weak winds.

More and more homeowners want to generate their own electricity. Solar systems are almost standard. However, self-produced energy not only protects the environment but also your wallet. But one technology hasn’t really made it into the private sector so far: wind power.

There are now quite clever approaches, such as a windmill garden fence or a wind turbine for the roof, but individual production takes a certain amount of time. That’s what the Dutch wants Company The Archimedes, however, change with a new concept.

Futuristic windmill for almost every house roof

A new type of wind turbine, which looks little like classic wind turbines, can be installed on almost any house roof. The technology brings a number of advantages. The system should be easy to install and hardly makes any noise in everyday use.

End consumers should be able to draw around 1,500 kilowatt hours of energy from the system per year. Of course, the location and the wind conditions play a decisive role.

The manufacturer gives the data assuming an average wind speed of five meters per second. However, it remains to be seen how the wind turbine will fare in individual use. The technology is now a good complement to photovoltaic systems.

Mini wind turbine weighs only 100 kilograms

The system, which weighs 100 kilograms, requires an area with a diameter of around 1.5 meters to operate. According to The Archimedes Doppel, the flower-shaped design is said to be as efficient as conventional rotors. However, an official price has not yet been set.

If you are interested in the system, you can contact the manufacturer directly. However, since the company quotes its prices on request, the technology seems to have reached market maturity. So maybe we’ll see one or two mini wind turbines on the roofs of houses in the future.
