This floating city can accommodate 40,000 people

Japanese architects have designed a floating city that will house up to 40,000 people. The so-called Doge City even has a rocket launch site.

Many different aspects influence the cities of the future. In addition to the additional challenges of climate change, new technologies promise ever-increasing comfort. Architects from Japan have now taken it to the extreme.

Because a new city does not need existing structures. If there is not enough space, people simply create new ones. The Japanese architects also followed this motto and now presented the concept of a floating city: Doge City.

Doge City: Floating city accommodates 40,000 people

But the city is by no means intended for everyone. Only 10,000 people who can afford a place find a new home there. At the same time, the architects plan for up to 30,000 tourists to visit Dogen City. The city, in turn, is round and has a circumference of about four kilometers.

The outer part of the structure serves to protect the residents and consists of stable dams that protect the city from flooding. Within the ring are apartments, shops and a promenade. The team also thought of parks, hospitals and schools.

Robots take on responsible tasks

Nevertheless, residents should be optimally cared for at all times. Data centers should enable telemedicine, for example, and avoid regular visits to the doctor’s office. Meanwhile, robots are supposed to support people and also perform surgical tasks.

The team behind Doge City hasn’t revealed how expensive the structure will be. Only forecasts allow a rough estimate of the operating costs. The island city uses up to two million liters of water per year and needs 6,900 tons of food. The project should therefore not be cheap.
