This expensive tape measure comes straight from the sci-fi future

The cool T1 Tomahawk tape measure is equipped with all sci-fi conveniences and makes measuring actual knowledge.

It’s 2022 but for some reason everyone still uses an analog, almost primitive tape measure. Tomahawk wants to change that by releasing a tape measure that wouldn’t look out of place in a sci-fi movie. The crowdfunded gadget makes measuring unprecedentedly accurate and marking something an exact science. The thing, on the other hand, also costs you quite a few space credits!

T1 Tomahawk sci-fi tape measure

The rechargeable T1 Tomahawk is a sci-fi tape measure with all the conveniences of a modern computer, packed in a relatively compact form factor. The tape measure has two screens. The OLED screen digitally displays the current reading. A bit in the spirit of this laser tape measure. Of course you can adjust with the push of a button whether you measure the inner, outer, or medium size.

Tomahawk calls the second screen “digital paper,” a bit like an e-reader’s screen. This shows the last few measurements as notes. So if you’ve measured several pieces, you don’t have to remember anything, it’s just on ‘paper’. To make it even more contemporary, you can of course also view the measurements in the included app.

Also useful in practice

But building tools aren’t just useful in digital realms; Also in practice the Tomahawk T1 is an incredibly handy tape measure. For example, on the side is a holder for a pencil. This way you accurately mark a length.

To make it even more convenient, there are also two lasers on the sides. The tape measure can indicate in a 3D space where exactly you hold the thing.

Price

The T1 Tomahawk tape measure is fully equipped, but also quite expensive. If you support the gadget now on Kickstarter, you will get a discount. But in the end, the sci-fi tape measure retails for $260. That is converted almost 240 euros, excluding VAT!
