Samsung wants at least 1,049 euros for the Galaxy S22 Plus – a lot of money just for a smartphone. Realme shows that it is also much cheaper. With the Realme GT 2 Pro, the Chinese company has a real alternative to the Samsung smartphone up its sleeve, which is even 300 euros cheaper. But the devil is in the details.

With the Galaxy S22 Plus, Samsung has launched a real top smartphone that leaves nothing to be desired. Problem with the matter: the price. Buyers have to put 1,049 euros on the table for the middle child of the new S22 series – at least. Because for the variant with double memory, Samsung requires an additional charge of 50 euros. If 128 GB is not enough for you, you will lose around 1,100 euros. The Galaxy S22 Plus does not offer a microSD slot either. Is it cheaper? It’s going ok!

Realme GT 2 Pro offers comparable equipment for less money

The Realme GT 2 Pro from the up-and-coming Chinese manufacturer Realme offers equipment that is even superior to the Galaxy S22 Plus in many respects – costs 300 euros less with an RRP of 749 euros. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and the Realme GT 2 Pro in comparison:

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus vs Realme GT 2 Pro: Who will win?

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and Realme GT 2 Pro are head-to-head. In the The Realme smartphone wins the important performance and battery categories, because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is superior to the Exynos 2200. And the Galaxy S22 Plus also falls short when it comes to the battery: A plus of 500 mAh in the Realme GT 2 Pro and the better fast charging capability speak for themselves.

The Samsung smartphones, on the other hand, clearly win in the forward-looking topic of software: The four years of Android updates and five years of security updates are a real announcement and currently also a unique selling point in the Android world – not even Google offers that much with its Pixel phones. There are also convenience functions such as the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, protection against dust and water and of course DeX, with which the Galaxy S22 Plus can even replace a PC.

In the end, the question remains whether all this is worth 300 euros more? For bargain hunters, the Realme GT 2 Pro could be the smarter and cheaper alternative to the Galaxy S22 Plus – when the smartphone will be available in Germany from March 8, 2022.
