This app can remain stolen from us
It came late, but it came: Shortly before the launch of the 9-euro ticket, Deutsche Bahn launched an app specially developed for the monthly ticket. However, there is much to suggest that the work would have been better saved.

The 9 euro ticket is here. Shortly before the start, the Deutsche Bahn also has one App specially developed for the ticket brought to the market, the appropriate name “9-Euro-Ticket”. It is available in the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

9 euro ticket: Nobody really needs this app
The Association of German Transport Companies (VDV), which commissioned the app, provides information about this. However, it is offered in the app stores by Deutsche Bahn. “The implementation of this digital offer was express wish of the federal and state governments, to offer all potential passengers everywhere in Germany the 9-euro ticket beyond the existing channels of the transport companies and associations,” says VDV President Ingo Wortmann (source: VDV).
but what can the “9-Euro-Ticket” app actually dothat everyone involved wanted it so urgently? The honest answer has to be: not much. In the app, customers can buy the 9-euro ticket and save it digitally in order to show it at a ticket inspection. That’s it.
Doesn’t sound great and it isn’t. On top of that, the possible payment methods are limited, only SEPA direct debit or credit card are offered. There is no trace of PayPal or Klarna, to name just two examples – an absurdity for a modern application.
Other functions such as searching for train connections are not planned. In addition, customers cannot integrate a 9-euro ticket that they have already bought elsewhere, but they can at least buy one for other people. However, this can only be displayed on the original smartphone. The possible usage scenarios are minimal. If you still want it, you can find the app here:
9-euro ticket app: It can’t do anything better than other apps – and less
The cherry on top of this heap of excess: From September 1st, the 9-euro ticket will be over again, no one needs the app anymore. Unless it is improved on a large scale based on the model of the Luca app and a completely new app is created. Perhaps it can also be converted into an app for one of the possible successors to the 9-euro ticket.
This is what you should know about the new 9-euro ticket:
You can buy the 9-euro ticket online in apps from regional transport companies, as well as via the DB Navigator app or on the Deutsche Bahn website. It is also available from machines, in buses or at ticket centers at the train station. The VDV argues that digital purchases should actually be made possible for all citizens with the app. are we honest that wasn’t a problem before. There are actually enough other tasks to be solved at the railway. Hopefully the 9 euro ticket app wasn’t too expensive.
