These are the most popular social networks of 2021. We have a new winner

It probably won’t surprise anyone to tell you that Facebook has been the most popular social network so far. But this year, the order changed and Facebook fell to second place. He was dethroned by the Chinese social network TikTok. TikTok not only revolutionized the Most Popular Social Networks category in 2021, but also deposed the almighty Google. The message is provided by the CloudFlare blog.

The most popular social networks 2021: TikTok wins, LinkedIn is growing nicely

CloudFlare is a DNS provider, which is a computer and site tagging system, so they only used their system to measure the number of users. So they can’t measure the number of unique visits, but they did measure every page load. Facebook still has the most users.

This year was also interesting for Facebook due to the big outage on October 4. This outage also caused great damage to Facebook. On that day, it became the fifth most visited social network, and in the whole week it finished in fourth place on average. So far, since September 2020, Facebook has never been fourth all week.

In addition, there have been only small changes in the ranking. Fourth and fifth places were exchanged – in 2020 Instagram was in fourth place and Twitter in fifth. In 2021, it is exactly the opposite – Instagram is fifth and Twitter is fourth.

However, LinkedIn is doing well. Since the end of 2020, it has surpassed many other popular domains in the overall ranking of visited domains. Already during February and March, it grew nicely, then collapsed in the summer (due to the fact that professionals took holidays) and at the end of August it grew again. In the overall ranking of the most visited sites, it rose from 78th place in January to 52nd in November. The trend shows that it will grow for a while.
