These are the fastest growing smartphone manufacturers in Europe

The European smartphone market appears to have largely recovered from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, sales are now affected by the ongoing chip shortage.

Revenue in the third quarter of 2021 decreased only marginally (-1%) compared to the same period last year. Compared to the second quarter of 2021, on the other hand, turnover decreased by 4%.

According to Jan Stryjak, Associate Director at Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi, Apple and OPPO have gained significant market share in the past year: “Xiaomi continued to grow in most European markets, while OPPO gained market share in Western Europe, helped by the recent merger with OnePlus. “

Apple, meanwhile, got a boost with the launch of the iPhone 13 toward the end of the third quarter. The iPhone 12 was launched in early Q4 2020. Samsung kept its top spot after largely recovering from its delivery woes earlier this year. But the market share of the South Korean company is still shrinking. According to Stryjak, the popularity of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has somewhat curbed the decline.

Fastest growing brands in Europe

Realme is one of the fastest growing brands in Europe, according to Counterpoint, and has secured a place in the top five. Realme sells a lot of phones in Russia, Spain and Italy. Vivo is also growing rapidly, albeit from a smaller base, while Motorola and Nokia are making a comeback. Honor has once again set its sights on the European market in hopes of a return. The company has broken away from Huawei and released the Honor 50 and 50 Lite in Europe. Honor was also looking for personnel in the Netherlands.

The end of the third quarter was a bit chaotic for Apple and Xiaomi. Xiaomi took a big hit in September due to a lack of chipsets. In contrast, the launch of the iPhone 13 was a great success for Apple. Despite the iPhone 13 going on sale towards the end of September, the phone seems to be more popular than last year’s iPhone 12. If Apple can keep up with demand (which appears to be a challenge in some markets), the company may be facing record sales in the fourth quarter.
