Sinterklaas has not yet unpacked his suitcases or the Christmas holidays are just around the corner. It’s high time to fill the agenda with fun winter outings. Have you ever been to the Belgian seaside resort of Knokke-Heist? There is plenty to experience there.

Fairytale walk
During the two-kilometre long fairytale walk ‘Rudolf and the Great Eland Trek’ you will learn everything about the moose and in the meantime enjoy the surroundings. Then defrost with a cup of hot chocolate, of course. Suitable for children from 4 to 10 years old. You can pick up the free booklet at the tourism office in Knokke.
Light spectacle
Despite the very expensive energy bill, you can still enjoy a winter light spectacle in Knokke-Heist. For example, thirty sculptures along the Zeedijk were fitted with extra-efficient LED lighting. You will find them between Lichttorenplein and Albertplein.
Covered ice rink
Put on those irons, because the covered ice rink is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. until January 8. Skated out? Then you can go there for the fair or a snack and a drink. Alfred Verweeplein 1

Winter walk
In Het Zwin, a nature reserve that stretches across the border of the Netherlands and Flanders, guides are available throughout the Christmas holidays to show you around in the area. Would you like to know more about the flora and fauna in the area? Then go for a winter walk (with mulled wine!).
Fireworks show
Wrap yourself up well, pour a glass of champagne and make sure you’re on the beach of Knokke-Heist at half past six on January 4 or 6. The annual International Fireworks Festival takes place there at the height of the Meerlaan.
Christmas gift shopping
Last-minute Christmas shopping can be done in one of the trendy shops and luxury boutiques, which are beautifully lit at this time of year. Extra nice: on 16 December you can shop until late in the Graaf d’Ursellaan and on 30 December the shops in the Dumortierlaan are open until late.
