These are the best smart radiator thermostats
The cost of heating in Germany is increasing. Most people have already received the dreaded letter and sometimes have to live with heating costs that are twice as high. Smart radiator thermostats can ensure that you can save on heating costs. Stiftung Warentest recommends two devices that are not too expensive.
Stiftung Warentest recommends smart radiator thermostats
The easiest way to save on heating costs is to heat less. This is also confirmed by the Stiftung Warentest. Each degree less should depend on the structure of the house or apartment Save 5 to 8 percent on energy costs. It is best, however, if you heat wisely. So only when you are there and only in rooms where you are. Smart radiator thermostats, which you can easily control with your smartphone, can help you with this. The two test winners from Stiftung Warentest with a grade of 2.1 are particularly recommended (source: Stiftung Warentest):
- AVM FRITZ!DECT 301: The smart radiator thermostat from AVM is perfect for anyone who already owns a Fritzbox. Then you don’t need a center anymore. The radiator thermostats are simply connected to the Fritzbox and can be controlled via the AVM app. It’s that easy. The older generation is still being sold (check it out on Amazon). There is now a new generation, the AVM FRITZ!DECT 302, which has been slightly optimized (see Amazon). One new feature, for example, is the open-window detection, which lowers the thermostat when you air the room.
- Homematic IP compact: The compact radiator thermostat from Homematic IP is limited to the essentials, which makes it significantly cheaper (see Amazon). You get all the important functions, but you have to do without the display, for example. The control is therefore only from the cell phone. If you don’t have a control panel yet, you still have to buy it (look at Amazon). Matching window contacts optimize the savings (view at Amazon).
You have a little more options with a display with this starter set from Homematic IP (see at Amazon). Here you get the station and two thermostats right at the start and you can expand them individually. You can also change the temperature directly on the device and see it on the display. The smartphone functions are also available. So the best of both worlds and also very attractively priced.
You can save electricity costs with a balcony power plant:
Good experiences with smart radiator thermostats for years
Personally, I have been using smart radiator thermostats for many years (see picture above) and have saved hundreds of euros. Especially if you have a relatively regular working day, you can optimally adjust the heating so that it heats the rooms where you will be staying at the time. According to the Stiftung Warentest, the radiator thermostats pay for themselves in 5 to 6 years. For me it was much faster. After two years I had already paid the costs. Due to the rising costs of gas, things should go relatively quickly for you.
