When it comes to acquiring slang words, the internet and social media have had the biggest impact on us. But the circle of friends and the entertainment media also play a decisive role.

That goes from one representative survey of the e-learning platform Preply, which surveyed over 1,500 people. In the following ranking we show you the results and thus the ten most popular slang words on the Internet.

10th place: Bottomless

36 percent of Germans use the term “bottomless”. Colloquially, the term stands for something bad or unbelievable. In 2022, this slang word was among the ten most popular youth words.
