These are the 10 largest CO2 emitters in Germany

Industrial CO2 emissions are considered to be one of the main causes of global climate change. The German economy also contributes to this. In our weekly ranking, we therefore show you the ten largest CO2 emitters in Germany.

More than 30 percent of global CO2 emissions come from China. Meanwhile, Germany wants to be climate-neutral by 2045 at the latest. An actual analysis However, the nature and environmental protection organization WWF proves that industry alone is responsible for a quarter of German emissions.

The WWF has therefore determined the 30 largest CO2 emitters in industry for the years 2021 and 2022. In the following ranking we present you the top ten.

10th place: Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe

Steel production is the core business of Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe in Duisburg. In 2022, Block 5 was created by the Hamborn power plant 2.1 million metric tons CO2. Compared to 2021, however, this corresponds to a decrease of 14 percent.
