One advantage of city breaks: they are relatively sustainable. Due to short travel routes, climate-damaging flights can often be avoided. Arriving and departing by train not only saves CO2, it is also often easier on the wallet. But which cities are overall the cheapest for a city trip?

With its city cost barometer, the company Post Office (Travel Money) determines the city breaks with the best value for money. The barometer is based on twelve criteria – including the choice of drinks, dinner for two with a bottle of wine, two nights in a three-star weekend accommodation, sightseeing and city transport. In the following ranking we present the results.
