It’s been a year since the AirPods Max appeared on the market. Meanwhile, there are already some rumors about a possible successor. These are our expectations of the AirPods Max 2!

AirPods Max 2 expectations

The AirPods Max 2 have been on the market for a year now. Slowly it is time for a successor, right? But what will the improvements of the AirPods Max 2 be? These are our expectations.

AirPods Max 2 with touch controls

It was originally thought that the AirPods Max would get touch controls. This later turned out not to be the case, and the AirPods Max got the well-known rotary button (digital crown). Hopefully the new version of the AirPods Max will get touch controls. Allows you to adjust the volume or skip to another song by swiping or tapping the earcup.

Different versions of the AirPods Max 2

Two variants of the AirPods Max 1 would appear: a luxury variant and a cheaper sports version. The expected price of 599 euros for the luxury version does not escape the suggested retail price of the current AirPods Max very much. However, there is no trace of the cheaper ‘sports model’. Maybe the AirPods Max 2 will get this version. You then have the choice of an affordable sports variant, which may not have some (of the new) functions.

Ear detection for left and right

There is a chance that the AirPods Max 2 will get ear detection for your left and right ear. There were already rumors that the first version of the AirPods Max would get this functionality. This means you don’t have to check the left or right side of the headphones every time before you put them on. The AirPods Max will then detect what your left or right ear is.

AirPods Max 2: the latest rumors

The latest rumors about the AirPods Max 2 date back to the beginning of this year. At the time, Mark Gurman said that Apple is not developing a new version of the AirPods Max. However, the tech giant would consider launching new colors. The current AirPods Max are available in the following colors:

• space gray.
• Silver.
• Pink.
• Green.
• sky blue

AirPods Max: deleted features

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the AirPods Max received several modifications before they hit the market. Originally dubbed “AirPods Studio”, Apple ran into several issues during development. One of these issues was the headband being too tight.

In addition, some features were removed. One of those features was changing the headband. That this was originally planned can be seen even now in the current design of the AirPods Max. It is in fact quite easy to detach the headband, without having to completely detach the AirPods Max. When you remove the magnetic ear cushions and insert a pin in the hole above the speaker, you can easily remove the headband.
