Apple Watches with watchOS 9 support

New year, new software version for the Apple Watch. Last week, Apple unveiled watchOS 9, the successor to watchOS 8. The new version makes your smart watch even better for your health by adding all kinds of functions for exercise, sports and rest.

But, then you should of course be able to download the update. With every new version of watchOS, older Apple smartwatches are dropped. This year it is the turn of the Apple Watch Series 3. This watch is stuck on watchOS 8 and can therefore not update to the latest version, which will be released later this year.

There are rumors that Apple will release three new smartwatches this year. The expected Apple Watch Series 8, new Watch SE and sports version of the Apple Watch will already run on watchOS 9. The watches are expected to be announced in mid-September, along with the iPhone 14 series.

This is new in watchOS 9

In watchOS 9, sports and exercise are central. For example, more measurements are taken while you are running. That way you can view the difference in height of your running session, among other things.

Furthermore, watchOS 9 can warn the wearer in time for a heart rhythm disorder and the Sleep app has been given a new look. Some new dials have also been added.

The public test version of watchOS 9 will be released in mid-July. Anyone can download this beta, but not without risk. After all, the test version may contain errors. The final, stable version of watchOS 9 will be released around September. This can be downloaded without risk.
